How to get there (flights, airport transfers, buses, trains)
Book your flight to San Jose (Juan Santamaría) Costa Rica airport. (Make sure not to select San Jose, California) The airport code is SJO. We will meet in San Jose and shuttle to Puerto Viejo together.

What currency is used in Costa Rica?
Costa Rica uses the Costa Rica Colon. There are banks in town where you can use the ATM and withdraw Costa Rican money. Many stores and restaurants also accept credit cards.
Do I need to be fit to join this retreat?
We will be biking and hiking, so you must be able to participate. The bike rides are mostly on flat roads and the hike is a moderate hike. Yoga each day is optional, but highly encouraged.
Do you allow candles or incense?
Due to fire and safety hazards, no candles or incense are allowed.
What time zone is it in Puerto Viejo, Costa Rica?
Costa Rica is on Central Time Zone.
What is the dress code for dinners?
Costa Rica is very casual. No need to pack a fancy outfit!
Do I need to bring a yoga mat?
You can, but it is not required, but part of this retreat is doing more with less. (if you have bad knees or an injury it would be recommended)
Can I book a massage there?
You can definitely book a massage. The going rates are between $55 and $75 per hour and some are given on the beach. If you’re interested, we can help you book this.
Can I bring my family or children?
We would love to have your friends or family join as long as they are over the age of 18.
Is it safe there?
Puerto Viejo is safe, although there are some petty theft crimes in the area. As long as you keep your valuables secured you shouldn’t experience a problem.
Does cell phone service work there?
Yes, most cell phone service providers have service there. On the day we go to the Manzanillo Refuge, the cell service will be a bit spotty, but overall the coverage is fairly decent. Also, many restaurants in town have wifi that you can access while you’re out and about.
What other excursions can I book?
There are opportunities for free time. Some of the activities you can book are surfing lessons, Jaguar Rescue Center, Kayaking, Horse Back Riding, Massage on the Beach.
